On May 23, 2026, the London Symphony Chorus celebrates its 60th anniversary with a special 60th concert at Milton Hall, featuring two new commissions: Jonathan Dove’s orchestration of The Passing of the Year, and a new work by Grace-Evangeline Mason. Alongside Duruflé’s Requiem for chorus, organ and chamber orchestra, the new works will be performed by the chorus with the London Mozart Players. Conducted by Mariana Rosas, with mezzo-soprano Marta Fontanals-Simmons and organist Benjamin Frost, this concert celebrates the Chorus’s rich history of inspiring performances, international collaborations, and commissioning new works since 1966.

The Passing of the Year was originally written in 2000 for double chorus and piano, a version which will be performed on December 31, 2026 with Dove himself accompanying Voces8 at Wigmore Hall in their New Years Eve concert. The evening's programme of seasonal essentials will also feature Dove's work The Three Kings.
