This weekend the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra perform Anna Thorvaldsdottir's ARCHORA making Germany the fourth country to have already heard the work this season. Already having been played by the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestre National de Metz all in their home countries, this marks the start of a very busy season for Anna and her orchestral works.
Throughout the season Thorvaldsdottir's works will be performed by 20 orchestras in 13 countries, with several of them – including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Iceland Symphony Orchestra – performing multiple works. ARCHORA alone will rack up more than 20 performances this season, contributing to at least 50 performances of Thorvaldsdottir's orchestral works, also including at least 10 each of METACOSMOS and CATAMORPHOSIS.
The season also features Anna as Composer-in-residence with the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra and the Icland Symphony Orchestra's tour with conductor Eva Ollikainen which features ARCHORA.
