Radio France Festival “Présences 2024” opens this February 6. The outstanding festival programme includes world premieres from the across Wise Music catalogues.
After a successful World Premiere of Kaguya at Bunka Kaikan Tokyo, Josephine Stephenson will premiere two exciting works at Radio France “Présences 2024”.
On February 6, her In Time Like Air, commissioned by Radio France and Ensemble Intercontemporain, will receive its world premiere opening the festival.
Stephenson’s dyptique Rest(e) will also receive its world premiere on February 11, performed by Fiona McGown and players from I Giardini ensemble.
Bryce Dessner’s Piano Concerto will receive its French premiere, performed by Alica Sara Ott, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, conducted by Brad Lubman. The performance will take place at Paris Philharmonie.
Desnner’s Piano concerto was commissioned by Tonhalle-Gesellschaft Zürich AG, Radio France, Southbank Centre and Philharmonia Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Deutsches Symphonie Orchester Berlin, Philzuid Netherlands, Bozar, Brussels Philharmonic, Ars Musica and Munich Philharmonic Orchestra.
On February 10, Iveta Apkalna and Orchestre National de France, conducted by Cristian Macelaru, will perform the French premiere of Nico Muhly’s organ concerto Register. The Maîtrisse de Radio France – conducted by Sofi Jeannin – will join them to perform the World Premiere of Stillness.
