A new album of chamber music by Poul Ruders has been released this September on Our Recordings (6.220680) and the disc features Ruders’ most important chamber music works to date, performed by the Rudersdal Chamber Players.

Ruders’ genius continues to shine in this eminently satisfying chamber disc. Unhesitatingly recommended.

With his characteristic wit and quirkiness, Grammy-nominated Danish composer Poul Ruders has summed up his mission as a composer as being “To entertain, to enrich, and to disturb, not necessarily in that order.”

This album spans 30 years of Ruders’ compositions, beginning with the elliptical Throne written in 1988 and two more recent major chamber works, the Clarinet Quintet (2014) and Piano Quartet (2016)

All three pieces features on the album are available to buy.

This new album has been awarded a Silver Medal at Global Music Awards for Outstanding Achievement - Global Music Awards - Music Competition

Listen to Ruders' chamber music. Listen to it again - and feel the thrill. This is an album you need to listen to several times. You will be rewarded for it. Also because the musicians in the Rudersdal ensemble, with the excellent young clarinetist Jonas Frølund, play really well. – Thomas Michelsen, Politiken 01.09.22
