Bryce Dessner is enjoying a summer hearing his music under the baton of Maestro Semyon Bychkov.
His new orchestral work Mari was commissioned by Bychkov for the Czech Philharmonic, Tonhalle and Leipzig Gewandhaus but the premiere planned for April 2021 was delayed.
On June 23rd the World Premiere performances take place with the Tonhalle Orchestra, Zurich. Then on July 1st and 2nd Bychkov takes the work to Leipzig for its German premiere.
Included in these five programmes is Dessner’s Concerto for two pianos performed by its dedicatees Katia and Marielle Labeque.
This work, by the end of 2021 will been programmed over 30 times around the world with the Labeques. A true victory for a contemporary work!
