The composer residency of Bryce Dessner at Konzerthaus Berlin comes to an end with two German premieres, renowned guests, and artists.
On June 19, cellist Anastasia Kobekina will perform the German premiere of Trembling Earth with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin under the baton of Iván Fischer. The cello concerto was written for Kobekina who also performed the world premiere in Dublin in November 2025.
The day before, Dessner will present a concert and discuss his life and artistic practice, reflecting on the inspirations behind his compositions and his role as guitarist in The National. He invited his sister – artist and poet Jessica Dessner – who he dedicated the cello concerto to. In this concert, Anastasia Kobekina will perform several of his works, including the German premiere of The Forest. Sederunt principes – Perotin for cello ensemble supported by members of the Konzerthausorchester, as well as the works for cello solo Tuusula and Song for Ainola.
