The world premiere of Piano Concerto by Ørjan Matre will take place with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra and soloist Leif Ove Andsnes under the baton of Thomas Søndergård on February 26.
The concerto was commissioned by the pianist. While composing, Matre kept Andsnes’ nuanced and delicate approach to music in mind. The five movements form a continuous musical arc, with the piano at the front, shaping the unfolding narrative.
Further performances are planned in April with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra where Ørjan Matre is featured as composer-in-residence.
