On August 24, Mariposas by Fabián Panisello will be premiered at this year’s Grafenegg Festival, Austria. The work for orchestra, which was commissioned by the Festival, is presented by Tonkünstler-Orchester Niederösterreich during the final concert of the ‘Ink Still Wet’ Composer-Conductor-Workshop that is led by Panisello.

Mariposas (Spanish for butterflies) explores the different cultural meanings of butterflies and is inspired by a story that his mother told shortly before her passing about butterflies of different colors, that form a rainbow. Tributing this oral tradition the music uses harmonic complexes that are reminiscent of bell sounds.
