Trio con Brio Copenhagen will premiere Apatiens Anatomi (The Anatomy of Apathy), a new chamber work by Louise Alenius, on January 30, 2025, at the Pierre Boulez Saal in Berlin.
In Apatiens Anatomi, Alenius explores the emotional landscape of apathy, describing it as:
...a blueprint of this quiet, unknown place that humans pass through heedlessly and completely alone, on their way toward stress, depression, and sorrow.
Louise Alenius is one of Denmark’s most determined and purpose-driven composers, crafting visionary works that challenge and resonate with audiences and performers alike. Her works span over opera, ballet, chamber music, and orchestral compositions.
Her opera Manualen, premiered at the Royal Danish Theatre in 2022, was nominated for Opera of the Year at the Reumert Awards in 2023 and the creative process about the work was documented in the 2023 documentary A Body in Conflict by Birgit Tengberg.
She has received the prestigious Carl Nielsen and Anne Marie Carl-Nielsens Merit Award and has gained acclaim for works like the opera Silent Zone (2017) and the ballet Elephant Man (2013).
Trio con Brio Copenhagen, known for championing contemporary music, continues their collaboration with the Pierre Boulez Saal, premiering new works by Danish composers each season.
