Awarding-winning chamber opera Silent Zone by Danish Composer Louise Alenius will have its Swedish premiere on April 12, 2023 at Malmö Opera. Hailed by critics as a “very unusual and moving chamber opera” (Kristeligt Dagblad), the opera revolves around a family drama dealing with the taboo of incest. The story follows a family hiding dark secrets and explores difficult feelings within a strong narrative.

Louise Alenius never shies away from difficult topics and states:

'Silent Zone is my first opera from 2017, and in this opera, I have tried to bring together everything I love to work with: quiet melancholy, melodic passages, and a libretto about a difficult - but important - subject. Silent Zone is so important because it deals with incest and silence within a seemingly normal family. It is a heavy and difficult topic that we try to unfold in a beautiful and respectful way.'

Silent Zone is a unique, immersive experience. Using the original design, the stage consists of an single apartment set in the middle of the large opera stage. The audience are allowed to move freely around the performance space and experience the drama unfold and create their own performance, adding to the story's intrigue. Don’t miss out on this very special performance!

Louise Alenius explores the capability of music to induce emotional and psychological states that go beyond words.
