World premiere of Kínēma for clarinet and Strings by Esa-Pekka Salonen

The latest work by Esa-Pekka Salonen, the orchestral piece Kínēma consisting of five scenes for solo clarinet and string orchestra, will be premiered on December 15 by the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Jukka-Pekka Saraste, with FRSO’s principal clarinettist Christoffer Sundqvist.

Performed from The Helsinki Music Centre, this 28 minute piece is a Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra commissioned work. A further performance of Kínēma will follow on December 16.

The five scenes forming the piece are:

II            Theme and variations
III           Pérotin dream
IV           J.D. in memoriam
V            Return
