Remembering Rostropovich

27 March 1927 - 27 April 2007 Mstislav Rostropovich was a giant in the music world. Cellist. Conductor. Champion. A driving force for new music whose career spanned decades. With his own special brand of artistic élan, he willingly embraced his musical mission to be our graceful advocate. Through him, we all grew, via the hundreds of works he presented, performed and premiered. He was, and is, our friend "Slava." Works presented by Rostropovich:ORCHESTRAL Stephen Albert     RiverRun (1983-84) 36'“An angel. Bigger than life. Brilliant. Passionate. An endlessly generous person. Warm. Down to earth. Loved to laugh. Beloved friend. Three kisses for Everyone! (in Russian Style). Slava changed my life!”
