Programme Note

Anoushka Shankar’s Chapters, a trio of EPs exploringdeeply personal and thematic journeys, culminates in a transformative orchestral program performed arranged byRobert Ames. Set to premiere at BBC Proms alongside the the London Contemporary Orchestra, the music reimagines Shankar’s signature blend of classical Indian sitar within amodern, evocative orchestration, expanding her horizons both artistically and sonically. This program finds Shankar exploring a mesmeric, at times almost ambient soundscapeas it journeys through the Chapters, gradually building to amore dynamic sound that concludes in a space of new hope. Together, Shankar and the orchestra create a richly immersive experience, transforming intimate compositions into layered soundscapes that resonate with both personaland cinematic qualities. The 75 mins features music composed by Anoushka Shankar, arranged and conducted by Robert Ames will beperformed along side her band and 42-piece orchestra across concert halls in 2026.
