- Bernhard Gander
Messing 1 (2023)
(for trombone solo)- Henry Litolff’s Verlag GmbH & Co. KG (World)
Programme Note
Messing 1 refers to the material brass, an alloy of copper and zinc, from which brass instruments are made. The atomic numbers of the elements in the periodic table of copper (29) and zinc (30) provide the basis for the rhythmic (29/8 and 30/8 motifs) and formal structure. The deformation and processing of the material (sheet metal) by bending and hammering are reflected in the melodic and rhythmic motifs of the piece.
