Programme Note
To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 1914 Christmas Truce, the Boston Pops and conductor Keith Lockhart commissioned Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens to write A Soldier’s Carol: The Christmas Truce of 1914 for narrator, mixed chorus and orchestra. It premiered at Boston’s Symphony Hall in December, 2014, with orchestration by William David Brohn.
