To complement the surrealist “The Imagery of Chess Revisited” exhibition at the Noguchi Museum, Long Island City, NY, pianist Margaret Leng Tan will be performing a number of chess-inspired works in the museum on 18 and 19 February 2006.

The centrepiece of the concert will be a specially created toy piano arrangement of Pawn to King 4, the chess sequence from Michael Nyman’s 1985 opera The Man who Mistook his Wife for a Hat. Margaret Leng Tan will also be playing music by John Cage, and performing a live accompaniment to classic surrealist movies.
