The world premiere of Beyond the Seven Veils of Unreality, a new string trio by Poul Ruders, takes place at the Bergen Festspil on Saturday 30 May 2026. The title Beyond the Seven Veils of Unreality is taken from Ray Bradbury’s iconic book Fahrenheit 451 and points towards themes of ambiguity, illusion and what may lie beneath the surface of perception.
Poul Ruders writes in his programme note:
Composing this piece, I set out on a journey into the unknown without a map or GPS, determined not to retrace my steps or look back. It is an adventurous journey through unexpected landscapes and uncharted territory, driven by the desire to do something I have never done before.
The performance is part of the programme at the Bergen Festspil which opens May 27 and features Esa‑Pekka Salonen as Artist in Residence.
