Klangforum Vienna and IRCAM Paris, conducted by Elena Schwarz, present the world premiere of Four skEtches by Márton Illés in the opening concert of the Wittener Tage für neue Kammermusik on April 24.
Illés explores the effect of live electronics on the instrumental material, which often results in a grandiose but honest, merciless sound. As electronics react in a extremely sensitive manner to the original sound, the composer is challenged to find material that suits the electronics to the same extent as the own instrumental musical language. Bearing this in mind, Four skEtches aims for an organic sound, where “the instruments never lose their original sonic character, but become ‘super-instruments’ that together produce music reminiscent of complex plant structures – music that lives, speaks and breathes.” (Márton Illés).
The world premiere is followed by the Austrian premiere on May 4 at the Konzerthaus Vienna.
