On 6 February 2026, Niels Viggo Bentzon's Violin Concerto no. 1 will be performed by Copenhagen Phil conducted by Thomas Dausgaard with soloist Johan Dalene, marking its first performance of the work since the 1950's.
The score was lost following the original performance. The work only survived in a piano reduction and a set of handwritten set of string parts. On the basis of these sources, together with a recording, the concerto has been reconstructed, and is now ready for a perfomance marking a rare opportunity to experience a long-lost chapter of Danish music history, finally brought back to life.
