In the middle of January, Rufus Wainwright and the Residentie Orkest Den Haag under the baton of Clark Rundell will present a concert titled “Oh What a World” – a grand survey of the composer’s works between pop and classical music.

The concert features lyrical soprano Danielle De Niese and narrator Carice van Houten, supporting Wainwright who will also sing and play the piano. Together they will perform Five Shakespeare Sonnets, and Imperfect Actor – a composition based on a Shakespeare sonnet and an existing song by Rufus Wainwright, which will have its world premiere in a new orchestral version on this evening especially written for the orchestra.

The concert will also feature the Offertorium from Dream Requiem, works from Wainwright’s operas such as the overture from the second act of Prima Donna and Air of Sabina from Hadrian, as well as his songs for voice and orchestra April Fools, Oh What a World, Les Feux d'Artifices and some of his pop songs.
