On November 22, 2025, the Ligeti Quartet will give the world premiere of Niels Rosing-Schow’s first String Quartet at the Philharmonie Luxembourg. The work will be premiered during the Rainy Days festival.
Titled String Quartet No. 1, the three movements, in Your Body, in Your Ears, in Your Mind, symbolise Rosing-Schow’s personal connection to string instruments. As he writes in his programme note:
In my youth I played the cello. And I still have it in my body, the feeling of the instrument and how to produce the various sounds. When I listen to or compose for strings, the gestures of playing are vividly present in my mind. The mental awareness of my inner hearing is inseparably linked to the bodily activities of producing the sound: music of movements.
