Composer, guitarist, and founding member of The National, Bryce Dessner, will be featured at the Helsinki Festival in two very different settings—at Dance House Helsinki (where his music accompanies the Sydney Dance Company in their Impermanence performance) and Huvila. At Huvila on August 27, Dessner curates a unique evening where his work will be performed by the technically brilliant and boldly programmed Australian String Quartet. They will be joined by Singaporean-British opera singer Fleur Barron, one of today’s most versatile and in-demand mezzo-sopranos, in performing the world premiere of Dessner's new arrangement, for mezzo and string quartet, of his 2018 work Voy a Dormir.
Also joining the quartet on the night is award-winning Russian cellist Anastasia Kobekina, acclaimed for her achievements including recognition at the Tchaikovsky Competition, as well as Emma Award nominee and Indie award winner, Finnish harpist and composer Laura Hynninen.
