BBC Music Magazine announced on January 23, 2025 that the album Terpsichore’s Box of Dreams (Nimbus Alliance NI 6445) has been nominated as one of three finalists in the Orchestral category of this year’s BBC Music Magazine Awards. The recorded works — all by Augusta Read Thomas — feature the Grossman Ensemble, conducted by Stefan Asbury and Timothy Weiss, and the Fredonia Wind ensemble, conducted by Paula Holcomb.
“These fresh works from the brilliantly talented American composer burst with imagination.”

The Grossman Ensemble is the high-caliber sinfonietta of the Chicago Center for Contemporary Composition, founded by Thomas, at the University of Chicago. The Fredonia Wind Ensemble consists of outstanding wind and percussion players at SUNY Fredonia and has commissioned Thomas.
Listeners can vote for recordings until February 28, 2025 at BBC Music Magazine Orchestral Award 2025.
Across nine categories, 27 recordings have been selected by an expert jury of BBC Music Magazine critics. Of the nine winners, one will go onto be announced as Recording of the Year. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Wednesday, April 23 at Kings Palace, London as well as on the BBC Music Magazine website.
