Prize for Horovitz

Joseph Horovitz has been awarded the Nino Rota Prize by the Festival Musica Ritmo-Sinfonica at Cava de Tirreni, Italy. The Nino Rota Prize is awarded annually in recognition of an outstanding musical career.
Joseph Horovitz will conduct his Jazz Piano Concerto at this year’s Festival on 3 September 2002. The Concerto was previously a prize-winner in a competition held by the Festival in 1966. The work, published by Novello, was originally entitled Jazz Harpsichord Concerto, in which form it was premiered by George Malcolm at the 1966 Camden Festiva. The piece may be performed either on harpsichord or piano.
