G. Schirmer, Inc., part of Wise Music Group, is pleased to announce a new publishing administration agreement with the singer-songwriter and composer Sufjan Stevens. An Academy Award-nominee and icon of 21st-century independent music, Stevens has a flourishing catalog of ballets and concert works, which have now found a home at G. Schirmer.

"It is an honor for us to welcome Sufjan's ballet catalog and other works to G. Schirmer," writes President Robert Thompson. "We look forward to facilitating the proliferation of these wonderful compositions around the world."

Stevens frequently collaborates with New York City Ballet Resident Choreographer Justin Peck. The score to their 2017 ballet The Decalogue was released on the composer's Asthmatic Kitty label in 2019, performed by the dynamic pianist and composer Timo Andres.

Stevens and Peck also worked together on 2012's Year of the Rabbit, 2014's Everywhere We Go, 2016's The Countenance of Kings, and 2019's Reflections and Principia, which was widely praised upon its premiere; The New York Times lauded the "beauty and charm" of Peck's choreography as well as Stevens' "romantically modernist études.""

Stevens' The BQE, a symphonic and cinematic exploration of New York City's infamous Brooklyn–Queens Expressway, debuted at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in 2007, and shortly thereafter earned the 2008 Brendan Gill Prize. Planetarium, a cosmic, collaborative album by Stevens, Nico Muhly, Bryce Dessner, and James McAlister, was released in 2017 to widespread critical praise.
