Michael Nyman will celebrate his birthday at the newly re-opened Hackney Empire, where he will perform himself excerpts from The Piano and selections of film music arranged for solo piano. There will also be live solo piano music to accompany showings of the classic silent films "Manhatta" (1921, dir. Paul Strand/Charles Sheeler) and "Apropos de Nice"(1929, dir. Jean Vigo), plus some surprises!
