Programme Note

Three Rooms projects the reality of a music festival into a building or an architectural ensemble. A kind of stylised docu-music theatre.

There is the reception, the programme, the director's office, various venues and stages for fluctuating audiences.

The piece is made up of various small stations that are freely ‘navigated’. Some of them take the form of temporary performances or stagings, others run continuously, are permanently open and can be visited at any time.

The audience thus experiences the composed staging of a condensed, miniaturised festival and the stylised depiction of its creation.

The patron who thinks about art and artists, the artistic director who almost intoxicatingly invents a festival, the music ensemble that plays for the stage in the neighbouring room, the soloist who practices endlessly (and eats pralines in the process) - all this takes place in a special conglomerate of buildings and props.

All these music-theatrical events play into each other in physical, artificial and mental spaces, but ultimately above all in their overlapping in the perception of each individual in the audience.
