String Quartet No. 1 (2025)
(Movements to Hear: in Your Body, in Your Ears, in Your Mind)

In my youth I played the cello. And I still have it in my body, the feeling of the instrument and how to produce the various sounds. When I listen to or compose for strings, the gestures of playing are vividly present in my mind. The mental awareness of my inner hearing is inseparably linked to the bodily activities of producing the sound: music of movements. The title of this three-movement string quartet wants to highlight, that gestures through sound are mirrored in the listening body, ears, and mind, thus producing the flux of our emotional state.
