Prelude and Nocturne   |   Two American portraits for solo piano

These pieces were written in memory of two sisters, Karrlin Field (1987–2004) and Lindsay Field (1983–2008), both being designed to reflect character traits of their respective dedicatees. The Prelude was composed in 2005 as part of pianist Clive Williamson’s One Minute Wonder project and was premiered by him at the Guildford Festival on 15 March 2005. The Nocturne was added in 2013 and first performed, together with the Prelude, on 19 March 2014 at the University of Surrey as part of Clive Williamson’s inaugural professorial recital. The pieces follow one another without a break.
