Programme Note
Based on the cherished children's classic novel by British American author Frances Hodgson Burnett (1849–1924).
As a child Mary Lennox is sent to live with her mysterious uncle at Misselthwaite Manor in Yorkshire after the death of her parents. She is very lonely and rather disagreeable. The estate is full of secrets: one night, Mary hears the screams of a child – although the servants claim it's just the wind. She also hears rumours of a mysterious garden that has been locked since the death of her uncle's wife. Mary sets out to unravel the secrets of Misselthwaite and bring the garden back to life.
