Programme Note

Scherzo (Wikipedia):

...a lively, exuberant musical form in 3/4 or 3/8 time

...usually played in a lively, cheerful, and animated manner

...metrical “aberrations” in which the 3/4 time is overlaid with 2/4 phrases

I wrote the piano concerto Scorching Scherzo after a long and intensive period of listening to Chopin. I worked with the above-mentioned scherzo building blocks, typical elements of Chopin's piano pieces (arpeggios, octaves, clouds of sound, scales, rhythmic overlays, striking motifs, etc.), and incorporated them into my predominantly cheerful and lively piano concerto.

My admiration for his scherzos is expressed in quotations from them.
