Programme Note
In Emily Howard's Ite Fortes solo violin and chamber choir enter into a dramatic exchange broadly in four sections: (1) solo violin (2) violin ‘leads’ choir (3) choir ‘leads’ violin and (4) solo choir. Over c.17 minutes, the repeated utterances of the violin’s initial motif eventually give rise to the choir’s final poignant chorale.
