Programme Note

Vanishing Gold is inspired by two little creatures: the once-abundant golden toad of Costa Rica was last seen thirty years ago, and has been declared extinct, while the golden coqui of Puerto Rico may also be extinct. Its distinctive two-note call is the starting point for the piece, which is a hymn to these vanishing tiny golden amphibians.
