Programme Note
The Lenten Gospels is a set of paired meditations for Lent, in which I respond to a text by Andrew Hammond with a piece of corresponding organ music.
The small fragments of text incorporated into the organ music is designed to inform, in however oblique a way, the organist’s performance. The organ music can begin either dovetailed with the very last sentence of text which precedes it, or after an appropriate silence.
