Tres Lamentationes (1985)
(I. Quomodo sedit, II. Clamavit cor, III. Converte nos)- Edition Wilhelm Hansen Copenhagen (World)
Programme Note
Creative artists have always found images and visions in the boundless landscapes of the Bible. Composers in particular have been inspired by Jeremiah, the prophet, to conceive melodies and harmonies.
A glance back in history reveals piles of music written for each of the verses in Jeremiah's lamentations. The reason for this is probably the way in which the message of the text is put forth. The language is direct and subjective, verging on the private, while at the same time, its universal tone awakens common feelings of recognition.
