The 1953 ballet Homage to the Queen by Malcolm Arnold returns to Covent Garden, London, in June in celebration of the eightieth birthday of HM Queen Elizabeth II.

The ballet, which was first performed in front of the new queen on Coronation Day, features original choreography by Frederick Ashton with additional choreography by David Bintley, Michael Corder and Christopher Wheeldon. It will be performed by the Royal Ballet conducted by Barry Wordsworth on June 5, 6, 7 and 9.

To coincide with the occasion, EMI Classics has reissued Robert Irving’s acclaimed recording of the work with the Philharmonia Orchestra. This is the only commercially available recording of the complete score, and also features Arnold’s English Dances, Four Scottish Dances and Sound Barrier Rhapsody. (7243 5 66120 2 0)
