Commissioned by The Village Trip Festival in New-York City Ella Milch-Sheriff’s song cycle Irgendwer for soprano, cello and piano receives its world premiere on October 2 at The Village Trip, followed by the German Premiere on October 6 at Staatsoper Hamburg. The songs are based on six songs by poet Mascha Kaléko.
When first getting to know the poems of Kaléko, Milch-Sheriff was impressed by her life story and works. For her songs, with which she aims to find a greater audience for this amazing and special poet, Milch-Sheriff chose six poems that are powerful, personal, emotional and partly mystical.
The songs will be presented by Sharon Harms and Joan Forsyth in New York and Valerie Eickhoff and Omer Meir Wellber in Hamburg.
