Irgendwer (Anyone). Six Songs, based on poems by Mascha Kaléko (2026)
(for soprano, violoncello and piano)

When I was commissioned by The Village Trip Festival in New-York City to compose a song cycle based on Mascha Kaléko’s poems, it was the first time I heard her name. After reading her poems and her life story, and I could not understand why this amazing and special poet is relatively unknown. I chose six poems which I found very powerful, personal, emotional, partly mystical, and composed six songs. I am hoping that through this song cycle, Mascha Kaléko’s poems will become better known not only to the German speaking world but also to other audiences.
