On September 24 at London's Church of St Alban the Martyr, the BBC Singers perform the European premiere of Piedra de Sol by Joby Talbot. Co-commissioned by Craig Hella Johnson's US based choir Conspirare, who gave the world premier earlier this year, Piedra de Sol is Talbot's second large scale choral work, written almost 20 years after premier of his widely celebrated Path of Miracles.
Setting two thirds of the epic masterpiece of by Mexican poet and philosopher Octavio Paz, Piedra de sol invites listeners and performers alike on a journey of infinite dimensions – a voyage whose course bends, advances, recedes, comes full circle and arrives forever. Owain Park conducts the BBC Singers as he begins his tenure as their Chief Conductor.
