On October 11, a new production of the ballet A Midsummer Night’s Dream, choreographed by Cathy Marston, receives its Swiss premiere, with music by Gabriel Prokofiev and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. The production will be performed by the Zurich Ballet and the Junior Ballet, with Robert Houssart conducting the Orchestra of Zurich Opera House and DJ Mr Switch at the turntables.

The ballet is inspired by Shakespeare’s comedy and features Mendelssohn’s original music interspersed with new and existing compositions by Gabriel Prokofiev, including his Concerto for Turntables and Orchestra No. 1, creating an exciting interplay between long-established and new repertoire.

The collaboration between Prokofiev and Marston dates back to 2011 with the production of Ein Winternachtstraum, that is now further developed in A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
