On 7 and 9 May 2026, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra gives the European premiere of Convergence by Jesper Nordin at Konserthuset Stockholm, with Pekka Kuusisto as soloist and chief conductor Ryan Bancroft on the podium.

Convergence is the result of a close creative collaboration between Nordin, Kuusisto, and Esa-Pekka Salonen, rooted in their shared interest in bringing together Nordic folk music, video game technology, and the orchestral tradition. Scored for violin, orchestra, live electronics, and live-projected visuals, the work uses Nordin's own interactive technology to allow the soloist and conductor to trigger virtual instruments through physical movement in real time. Each performance is therefore unique and unrepeatable. The visualisation of these electronic aspects in the music is done by French visual artist Thomas Penanguer.

The work had its world premiere with the San Francisco Symphony in October 2023 and is a co-commission between the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic and the San Francisco Symphony. The concert will be broadcast on Swedish Radio and recorded for future release.
