Britta Byström has been awarded a Swedish Grammis for her album Ink-Wash on Paper, released on OUR Records. The Grammis was established in 1969, is one of Sweden's most prominent music awards, reconising outstanding artistic achivements across multiple genres.
At the centre of the album is Byström's octet Ink-wash on Paper, a work inspired by the visual art of Gunnel Wåhlstrand. The work translates Wåhlstrand's ink technique into sound, capturing a distinctive interplay of light, stillness, and melancholy.
The recording is the reslult of a close artistic collaboration, initiatiated together with violinist Malin Broman, and realised in partership with guitarist and producer Lars Hannibal, who served as executive producer of the album.
With this award, Buströms work recieves recognition for its distinctive ability to connect musical structure with visual imagination, and for its exploration of colour, resonance, and perspective.
