On the occasion of the Erich Urbanner’s 90th birthday, Tonkünstler-Orchester Niederösterreich and Fabien Gabel will premiere his new work Konzertante Formen on March 21 at Stadttheater Wiener Neustadt in Austria.
Konzertante Formen reflects Urbanner’s creativity and curiosity about combinations of sound and form that he has not yet tried out. The lively interplay between different groups of instruments is occasionally interrupted by tutti passages accompanied by rhythmic percussion. Strings and harps are arranged in a choral style, forming a melodic foundation that develops throughout the work.
