Founded in honor of Olivier Messiaen in 1998, the Festival Messiaen au Pays de la Meije is one of the most important encounter for contemporary music in France. This year, renown Ensemble intercontemporrain and Pierre Bleuse present two concerts in La Mure, one beeing a mini-anthology to the Ensemble’s companions. It is this concert, on July 25, which includes the world premiere of Arnulf Herrmann’s work Vor uns liegen wunderbare Tage/De Beaux jours devant nous. Commissioned by the Ensemble intercontemporrain for their cellist Éric-Maria Couturier, the concerto for cello and ensemble is inspired by reflections on the freedom of choice.
