On January 23 2026, Copenhagen Phil and Bjarni Frimann Bjarnason will present the premiere of Josefine Opsahl's Hands II - a new and extended version for large orchestra of her cello concerto Hands.
Curated by acclaimed author Olga Ravn, the concert The Goddess Was a Shapeless Mass will combine symphonic music with performance, projected text, 3D animation and ritual, in a quest for a new artistic language that can express the longing for a bygone era when art and religion, folk magic and music were not separate.
Alongside the music, three priestesses will perform a series of rituals and choreographies on and around the stage, while Olga Ravn’s texts will be projected onto the walls of the hall.
In addition to Opsahl's Hands II, the concert will also feature the Danish Premiere of Orpheus Undone by Missy Mazzoli.
