Peter Rundel and SWR Vokalensemble present the first performance of Elena Mendoza’s Über Zauberei on November 12 at the Taschenopernfestival in Salzburg. The work for mixed choir a cappella places the poem “Der Zauberkünstler” by Günter Kunert in different scenic situations and explores forms of human manipulation. Mendoza turns the magic show of the poem into a populist speech that balances between irony, grotesque and bitterness.
