Signs in the Air, a new portrait album featuring music by Niels Rosing-Schow, is now available to purchase and stream via Dacapo Records. The release brings together five selected works performed by the Danish Chamber Players (Ensemble Storstrøm), with soloists Bjarke Mogensen (accordion) and Toke Møldrup (cello), conducted by Jean Thorel.

The title work, Dance and Signs in the Air, was written for Danish Chamber Players' 25th anniversary and takes its inspiration from a moment in a park in Shanghai where music, dance, calligraphy and city noise suspended the feeling of time. The music traces this fleeting scene with subtle gestures and quarter-tone inflections that echo traditional Chinese music.

Granito y arco iris is a chamber concerto for accordion with soloist Bjarke Mogensen. Inspired by Virginia Woolf’s phrase “granite and rainbow,” the work explores the meeting of the physical and the intangible.

Known for finely shaped textures and refined sense of form, Rosing-Schow creates music with a clear sensitivity. These pieces move between energy and stillness, structure and colour, always with a strong focus on the sensual qualities of sound.

Also included are Carried Away, Respiro ergo sum, and a poetic arrangement of Debussy’s 'Six épigraphes antiques' that closes the album.
