On November 5, 2022, Joe Hisaishi presents the US premiere of Roots, Pulses, a new score for chamber orchestra by Nico Muhly. This Carnegie Hall performance features the Bang on a Can Festival Ensemble, comprised of local New York musicians, members of Bang on a Can All Stars, and alumni of the Bang on a Can Summer Music Festival. Roots is performed alongside selections from Muhly’s Drones and Viola, featuring violist Nadia Sirota; new compositions by Hisaishi round out the concert. This program debuted in Tokyo in October 2022 and marks a lovely, trans-Pacific partnership between two of today’s most beloved composers.
