After glowing reviews for recent premieres (Gift – Our Breath of Life; and The Rising of Mother Country), another William Barton premiere is on the horizon.

Melbourne String Ensemble has commissioned a series of works from Indigenous composers for a production called ‘The Seasons’. The works are composed for string orchestra and are inspired by the seasons of Traditional Country. As a part of this production, Barton’s new work Elements of the Earth will be premiered by Melbourne String Ensemble together with William Barton on didgeridoo at the Melbourne Recital Centre on 30 April. In keeping with the theme, the program will include Vivaldi’s Summer and Winter.

This work was commissioned by the Adelaide Festival and was performed by Chineke! in its world premiere in March.
