On April 13 and 14 Karawane, Esa-Pekka Salonen’s Dada inspired work for chorus and orchestra will receive its French premiere.

Salonen sets Karawane, a sound poem by Hugo Ball, a founder of the Dada Movement, author of the Dada Manifesto, and the central figure in all the activities of Cabaret Voltaire, the first forum of the early Dadaists. Just 17 lines of synthetic language Ball describes the poem as “Schilderung einer Elefantenkarawane aus dem weltberüchtigten Zyklus “gadij beri bimba” (Description of a convoy of elephants).

Salonen conducts the Orchestre de Paris and the Chœur de l'Orchestre de Paris, at the Paris Philharmonie.
